| Inverness-Means, Mouth of the River Ness. Once famed for
the clearest pronounciation of the English Language, Inverness is situated
at the lowest end of the six mile long River Ness which flows through the
centre of the town, from Loch Ness to the Moray Firth, and out into the
North Sea beyond. The site of the present town has seen settlements dating
back some 7,000 years. King David the First founded a Royal Burgh here in
the mid twelfth century- this when the town was laid out to it's present
plan. All roads in the area lead to Inverness, thus making it an ideal location in which to base a holiday and to explore at leisure. There are a wealth of attractions and places of interest to visit which will keep you occupied for days! Cruise Loch Ness and go Nessie spotting. Visit the world famous Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Spot the magnificent wild life whilst enjoying the waterfalls and mountains in spectacular scenery. Learn about the Picts who were the ancient inhabitants of the area. Visit the many sites of Pictish Standing Stones, Chambered Burial Cairns and Ancient Vitrified Forts. |
